Crockpot BBQ Beef Ribs

Crockpot BBQ Beef Ribs are the kind of set-it-and-forget-it comfort food that makes dinner feel special with hardly any effort. The ribs get rubbed down with a smoky spice blend, then slow-cooked in broth and BBQ sauce until the meat is fall-off-the-bone tender. To finish them off, a quick trip under the broiler caramelizes the sauce into a sticky, finger-licking glaze. It’s a simple process with big results — all you need are a few pantry staples, your favorite BBQ sauce, and plenty of napkins.

Ingredients

  • 9 bone-in beef back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 18 oz bottle BBQ sauce divided

Instructions

  • Pat the ribs dry with paper towels, then season all over with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and a little cayenne for kick. If your ribs came in a big rack, slice them into smaller sections so they’ll fit in the crockpot.
  • Place the ribs in the crockpot, pour the beef broth over top, and slather on half of the BBQ sauce. Save the rest of the sauce for later.
  • Cover and cook on low for 7–8 hours, until the meat is fall-apart tender.
  • When the ribs are ready, preheat your oven broiler and line a baking sheet with foil. Transfer the ribs onto the sheet, brush them generously with the remaining BBQ sauce, and broil on HIGH for 3–5 minutes until the sauce caramelizes into sticky, finger-licking goodness.
