At Slimming Violet, our aim is simple: to publish recipes and cooking content that our readers can trust and genuinely use in their own kitchens.

Since 2018, we’ve been creating practical recipes for real life, with a particular focus on family dinners, crockpot favourites and food that works for busy households. Our recipes range from healthy, everyday options to more indulgent dishes, but they all share the same goal: they should be achievable, enjoyable and worth making again.

We take the accuracy, originality and integrity of everything we publish seriously. This Editorial Policy explains the standards we follow when developing, testing, writing, photographing and updating our content.

Recipe Development & Testing

Our recipes begin in a real home kitchen and are developed with everyday cooks in mind. Before publication, recipes go through our development and testing process to make sure that the instructions, quantities, cooking times and final results are reliable.

Testing may include adjustments to ingredient quantities, cooking times and temperatures, methods, seasoning and useful substitutions. We also consider practical questions that might arise when someone makes the recipe at home.

Accuracy

We aim to make our recipes and other content accurate, clear and useful.

Recipes are checked carefully during development and testing, and we make every effort to ensure that ingredients, measurements, cooking times and instructions are presented correctly.

Cooking can vary according to ingredients, equipment and individual kitchens, so we also include additional notes and guidance where we think these will genuinely help readers achieve a good result.

If we discover an error or receive useful feedback from a reader, we’ll review the relevant content and make corrections where appropriate.

Originality

The recipes, written content and photography published on Slimming Violet are created for our publication unless otherwise clearly stated.

We respect the intellectual property of other creators and publishers and expect the same consideration for our own work.

Where our content draws on information from an external source, we aim to identify and attribute that source appropriately.

Research & Sources

Some articles require information beyond our own recipe development and cooking experience.

Where external information is needed, we aim to use appropriate and reliable sources and to distinguish researched information from our own observations, testing and recommendations.

We do not copy recipes, articles, or photographs from other publishers.

Photography

Our food photography is intended to show readers the recipes we create and help them understand what they can expect when making them at home.

Where genuinely useful, we also include process photographs to demonstrate particular techniques, stages, textures or other details that may make a recipe easier to follow.

Recommendations & Commercial Content

Our editorial content is created for our readers.

We do not present paid advertising as independent editorial recommendation. Where content is sponsored, paid for or otherwise produced as part of a commercial relationship, we aim to make that relationship clear to readers.

Where affiliate links are used, appropriate disclosure is provided. The potential to earn a commission does not determine whether we recommend a product or ingredient.

Corrections & Reader Feedback

We welcome constructive feedback from readers.

If an error or significant omission is brought to our attention, we will review it and, where appropriate, correct or update the content.

Slimming Violet has been publishing since 2018, and our recipe library continues to evolve.

Older content may be reviewed and updated to improve instructions, add useful testing notes, reflect new information, improve photography or make a recipe easier for readers to follow.

An updated article may therefore differ from the version originally published.

Independence & Transparency

Our priority is to create useful, trustworthy content for our readers.

We aim to be transparent about how our content is created, when commercial relationships are involved and where information has come from. We will not knowingly publish misleading information or make claims that we cannot reasonably support.

Ultimately, our editorial standard comes back to the same principle that guides our Test Kitchen:

Artificial intelligence has had a significant impact on the content creation industry in the past year, and we at Slimming Violet are committed to using relevant tools both ethically and responsibly to ultimately create the best possible experience for users.

For example, we utilize Large Language Models (LLMs) as a tool in our content creation processes. These often serve as a starting point in the research and initial draft stages of our creation, and it assists the team in brainstorming ideas and structuring them in the most cohesive way possible. 

However, we do want to assure readers that this use of LLM technology does not it any way compromise either the quality or the accuracy of our content. We are real people, creating real recipes, with real ingredients, in real home kitchens. Each and every piece of content is thoroughly reviewed, tested, and edited by a member of the team, and during this process, value is added in the way of human insight, experience, and creative flair, in a way that LLM technology simply cannot provide on its own. 

One way in which AI is utilised is to maintain consistency across all posts in terms of structure and cohesion. We believe that this ultimately delivers a much better experience for our readers, who come to know exactly what to expect when they consume our content. 

We also use AI behind the scenes to streamline team communications, so we can easily catch up on anything we might have missed. As we’re often working across different time zones and with different working hours, this ensures that everyone is kept up to date and is informed on any key changes or priorities during a typical working week. 

We have never, and will never, use AI tools to scrape content from other websites or creators. If other creators’ content is used as inspiration, this will always be very clearly labelled and full credit will be given. 

Finally, we utilize photographic enhancement tools to assist in creating beautiful imagery that is always indicative of the results that you can create at home when following our content. 

To summarize, whilst we embrace the benefits of modern and evolving technology, we are committed to doing so in a responsible manner, and we firmly believe that humans are irreplaceable in the content creation process. Our ultimate goal is to deliver content that is thoroughly tested, checked, and of the highest possible quality standards.
