Serving Ideas & Side Dishes
This Ground Beef & Zucchini Casserole is hearty enough to stand on its own, but the right side dish can take your meal to the next level. Whether you’re craving something light and fresh or warm and comforting, here are some perfect pairings:
Bread & Grains
✔ Garlic Bread or Breadsticks – A crispy, buttery side to soak up all that marinara goodness. Try homemade garlic bread or warm, crusty sourdough.
✔ Cauliflower Rice – A great low-carb option that adds texture and soaks up the flavors beautifully.
✔ Quinoa or Farro – If you want something hearty but not too heavy, a side of nutty quinoa or farro makes a great pairing.
Salads
✔ Italian Chopped Salad – A mix of romaine, cherry tomatoes, olives, red onion, and a zesty Italian dressing keeps things fresh and balanced.
✔ Arugula with Lemon Vinaigrette – Peppery arugula with a light lemon dressing adds brightness to contrast the richness of the casserole.
✔ Classic Caesar Salad – A creamy, garlicky Caesar with crisp romaine and parmesan is always a winner.
Roasted & Sautéed Veggies
✔ Roasted Brussels Sprouts – Crispy, slightly caramelized Brussels sprouts add a delicious contrast to the casserole’s creaminess.
✔ Garlic Green Beans – Sautéed with a little olive oil, garlic, and lemon, these add a fresh, crisp bite.
✔ Balsamic Glazed Carrots – Roasted carrots with balsamic bring a touch of sweetness that balances out the savory flavors of the dish.
Light & Refreshing Sides
✔ Cucumber & Tomato Salad – A simple mix of sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and a light vinaigrette keeps things cool and fresh.
✔ Caprese Salad – Fresh mozzarella, basil, and juicy tomatoes drizzled with balsamic glaze make for a light, refreshing pairing.
✔ Steamed Asparagus with Lemon – Simple but elegant, asparagus with a squeeze of fresh lemon brings a bright, clean contrast.
