Ingredients
If you want to skip straight on down to the printable recipe card, you’ll find it at the bottom of this post! It covers ingredients, measurements, and instructions. In the following sections, I’m going to explain more about the recipe and share some photos from the process, as well as some ideas for variations and serving up your sliders!
-
Slider buns: Soft Hawaiian rolls or brioche buns work great here—they’re the perfect size and hold everything together without falling apart.
-
Frozen fully-cooked meatballs: You can totally use homemade, but the frozen ones save time and still taste great once simmered in sauce.
-
Marinara sauce: Use your favorite jarred sauce—or go homemade if you’re feeling fancy. Either way, make sure it’s nice and rich so the sliders stay saucy.
-
Mozzarella cheese: Regular sandwich slices are easiest to cut into fun monster teeth.
-
Sliced black olives: These make the perfect little monster eyes. You can use whole olives and slice them yourself, or grab a can of pre-sliced to make it even easier.

How To Make Halloween Monster Meatball Sliders
-
Warm the meatballs in a saucepan over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Add the spaghetti sauce, turn the heat down to medium-low, and let everything simmer together until the meatballs are hot and saucy.

-
While that’s heating up, cut your mozzarella slices in half, then cut each half into little triangles—these are your monster teeth.

-
To assemble, place three saucy meatballs on the bottom half of each slider bun. Add two mozzarella triangles for teeth, then pop the top bun on.

-
For the eyes, stick a toothpick through each olive and place them on top of the buns so they look like little monster eyes staring at you.

-
That’s it! Repeat for the rest of the sliders, serve them up, and watch them disappear!

Fun & Spooky Variations
-
Swap the sauce
Try BBQ sauce, Alfredo, or even pesto instead of marinara for a different monster “look.” -
Cheese options
Use provolone, cheddar, or pepper jack for the “teeth”—whatever cheese slices you can cut into sharp monster shapes. -
Spicy twist
Use spicy meatballs or add red pepper flakes to the sauce for a little heat (great for grown-up monsters). -
Monster eyes alternatives
Use sliced cherry tomatoes, candy eyeballs (if you’re going the sweet-savory route), or small pieces of mozzarella with black pepper dots. -
Make it vegetarian
Use plant-based meatballs and a dairy-free cheese alternative to make these meatless monster sliders. -
Add greens (sneakily)
Tuck a little spinach or basil leaf under the meatballs if you want to sneak in a veggie layer—just call it “monster lettuce.”
Serving Ideas – Perfect for Halloween Parties!
-
Slider Bar Setup
Keep the meatballs and sauce warm in a slow cooker and set out all the fixings (cheese slices, buns, olives, etc.) so guests can build their own spooky sliders. It’s interactive and keeps them fresh. -
Serve on a Halloween-themed tray
Use a black or orange platter lined with parchment paper printed with cobwebs or skeletons to set the spooky mood. -
Pair with themed sides
Serve alongside “witch finger” veggie sticks (carrots with almond slivers), spooky mozzarella string cheese “ghosts,” or mini cups of “potion punch.” -
Use toothpick flags
Add fun Halloween toothpick toppers—little flags, mini ghosts, or spider rings stuck in the buns—for an extra festive touch. -
Name tags for each monster
Print fun labels like “Vampire Bites,” “Franken-Sliders,” or “Mummy Meatballs” and display them near the serving platter. -
Great on a buffet
These sliders hold their shape well and stay tasty even as they cool—perfect for Halloween buffets or snack tables where guests are grazing all night. -
Pair with themed dips
Offer little ramekins of marinara (“monster blood”) or garlic aioli (“vampire repellent”) for dunking.
