Loaded Tater Tot Nachos
A sheet pan dinner is always a good idea, and this one is fun, family friendly, and just what you need for feeding a hungry crowd! I created this recipe with game days in mind, but it’s also great for those nights when you want an easy meal that the kids will actually want to eat.
Loaded tater tot nachos start with a pan of crispy baked tots, then get piled high with seasoned beef, warm queso, and plenty of melty cheese. Everything goes back into the oven just long enough for the toppings to come together, then it’s finished with whatever fresh toppings you fancy. It’s a simple, no-rules kind of recipe. Easy to assemble, easy to customize, and built for sharing!

Ingredients
Note: I’ve included a printable recipe card for you at the bottom of this post!
-
Ground beef — A classic choice that holds seasoning well and makes the totchos extra hearty.
-
Taco seasoning — Brings bold flavor fast with zero extra effort.
-
Water — Helps the seasoning coat the beef evenly and keeps it from drying out.
-
Frozen tater tots — The crispy base that makes these nachos feel extra fun and snackable.
-
Queso cheese — Adds that creamy, melty layer that ties everything together.
-
Shredded Monterey Jack cheese — Melts beautifully and adds a mild, creamy finish.

Optional Toppings
-
Pico de gallo — Fresh and bright, perfect for cutting through the richness.
-
Sour cream — Cool and creamy, especially good with the seasoned beef.
-
Lime wedges — A squeeze of lime wakes everything up right before serving.
-
Jalapeños — Add as much or as little heat as you like.
-
Fresh cilantro — Brings a pop of freshness and color on top.
How To Make Loaded Tater Tot Nachos
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Spread the tater tots out evenly on the pan and bake until golden and crispy, about 25–30 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through.

-
While the tots bake, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns, about 7–10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.

-
Take the tater tots out of the oven and drizzle them with queso. Top with the seasoned beef and shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
-
Return the pan to the oven and bake for about 10 more minutes, until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.

-
Remove from the oven, finish with your favorite toppings, and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes
Leftover taco meat works perfectly here and is a great way to cut down on prep time.
Spread the tater tots in a single layer so they get crispy before adding the toppings.
Make sure the tots are fully crisp before adding the queso and beef. This helps keep them from getting soggy!
Serve right away for the best texture; tater tot nachos are at their peak when they’re hot and crispy.

Variations
-
Chicken Totchos: Swap the ground beef for shredded chicken or leftover rotisserie chicken.
-
BBQ Totchos: Use BBQ-seasoned meat and drizzle BBQ sauce instead of taco seasoning.
-
Breakfast Totchos: Top the tots with scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and breakfast cheese.
-
Spicy Totchos: Add sliced jalapeños, hot sauce, or a spicy queso for extra heat.
-
Veggie Totchos: Skip the meat and load them up with black beans, corn, and peppers.

Serving Ideas
These loaded tater tot nachos are perfect for game days, parties, or casual get-togethers. Set the pan in the middle of the table and let everyone dig in!
Serve them straight from the baking sheet with plenty of extra toppings like sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and green onions.
Pair with other easy party favorites like wings, sliders, or queso for a full spread.
They also work as a fun dinner when you’re craving comfort food.
