Mini Bacon Ranch Cheese Balls
I’m bringing you the cutest little appetizer today that’s perfect for game days or just any time you’re hosting a party! These mini bacon ranch cheese balls are a little bit retro, little bit nostalgic, and a whole lot of fun.
They start with a simple cream cheese base mixed with ranch seasoning and sharp cheddar, then get rolled in crispy bacon and chives for extra flavor and texture. After a quick chill, they’re firm enough to serve with pretzel sticks for easy grabbing. The result is creamy and savory with just the right amount of ranch tang, salty bacon crunch, and that satisfying bite that makes them hard to stop eating!
Don’t miss more of my popular appetizers whilst you’re here… You’ll also love my Italian sub sliders, cranberry pecan cheese balls, bacon wrapped shrimp, chicken salad pinwheels, taco ranch bites, and BBQ chicken wings!

Ingredients
Note: I’ve included a printable recipe card for you at the bottom of this post!
-
Cream cheese, softened — Make sure it’s fully softened so everything mixes smoothly.
-
Dry ranch seasoning and dressing mix — Brings that classic ranch flavor without any extra work.
-
Freshly grated cheddar cheese — Melts right into the mixture and gives the cheese balls a sharper, fresher flavor.
-
Crumbled bacon or cooked bacon slices — Adds smoky, salty crunch; real bacon gives the best flavor.
-
Chives, thinly sliced — Adds color and a mild oniony bite that balances the richness.
-
Pretzel sticks — Makes them easy to grab and gives a little salty crunch with every bite.

How To Make Mini Bacon Ranch Cheese Balls
-
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
-
In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, ranch packet, and cheddar cheese until smooth and well combined.

-
Add the crumbled bacon and chives to a shallow bowl or plate.

-
Use a 1-inch cookie scoop to portion the cheese mixture, then roll each scoop in the bacon and chives until coated. Place the cheese balls on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for 10–20 minutes to firm up.

-
Just before serving, insert a pretzel stick into the center of each cheese ball. Serve right away or keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Recipe Notes
Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to room temperature so it mixes easily and rolls smoothly.
If the mixture feels too soft to work with, pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes before rolling the cheese balls.

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips
Store the mini cheese balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
These are great to make a day ahead for parties. Just wait to insert the pretzel sticks until right before serving!
Let the cheese balls sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving so they’re easier to bite into.

Variations
-
Swap the cheddar for pepper jack, white cheddar, or Colby Jack to change up the flavor.
-
Add a pinch of freshly cracked black pepper or garlic powder to boost the seasoning.
-
For a little heat, mix in crushed red pepper flakes or finely diced jalapeños.
-
Use green onions in place of chives if that’s what you have on hand.
