Instructions:

  2. While the bacon cooks, cut the beef chuck into 2-inch chunks.

  3. In the same skillet with the bacon grease, sear the beef in batches for 3–5 minutes per side, until browned. Transfer seared pieces to the crockpot.

  4. Add the baby potatoes, carrots, onion, pearl onions, garlic, and mushrooms to the slow cooker.

  5. In a large bowl, whisk together the red wine, beef broth, cornstarch, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Pour over the beef and vegetables.
