Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Pizza
If you’re a regular reader then you might have noticed that I’m a little obsessed right now with creating holiday centerpieces in the shape of Christmas trees! They’re just so cute, so deceptively easy to prep, and so perfect for hosting over the holidays when you want something with a bit (a lot!) of a wow factor.
If you loved my Christmas tree bruschetta, Christmas tree cheese board, and spinach puff pastry Christmas tree, then this is the latest one to add to your list!
It’s made with layers of store-bought pizza dough, pizza sauce, melty mozzarella, and pepperoni, all shaped into a Christmas tree and brushed with garlicky butter before baking. Once it comes out of the oven, it’s golden, cheesy, and perfect for pulling apart branch by branch. It’s the kind of centerpiece that makes everyone stop and say, “Wait, did you make that?!”, even though it’s secretly one of the easiest holiday recipes out there.
Whether you’re hosting a Christmas Eve gathering, a family movie night, or a festive potluck, this one’s guaranteed to steal the show.

Ingredients
Ready to make it? You’ll find a printable recipe card down at the bottom of this post with everything you need. I always like to save my favorites in a little holiday folder, because let’s be honest, there’s nothing worse than scrolling through Pinterest trying to find that recipe you swore you’d remember. Trust me, is one you’ll want to keep handy!
-
Refrigerated pizza crusts – The ultimate shortcut! They bake up golden and fluffy, and you can shape them easily into your Christmas tree base.
-
Mozzarella cheese – Because you can’t have pull-apart pizza without that gooey, stretchy cheese pull.
-
Pizza sauce – Classic and simple. Use your favorite jarred sauce or homemade if you have it.
-
Pepperoni slices – Adds that classic pizzeria flavor and gives your tree a pop of festive red.
-
Butter (melted) – Brushed on top for that glossy, golden finish.
-
Garlic powder & Italian seasoning – The secret to that irresistible “garlic bread meets pizza” flavor.
-
Parmesan cheese – Sprinkled on after baking for a little extra cheesy goodness.
-
Fresh basil – Adds color and freshness — the perfect finishing touch for your festive tree.

How To Make Your Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Pizza
- Prep the base: Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Shape the tree: Unroll both pizza crusts and stack them on top of each other. Cut into a large triangle shape (think Christmas tree), then gently separate the two layers.

- Add the filling: Place one dough triangle on your baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface, then sprinkle on mozzarella and layer with pepperoni slices.

- Seal it up: Top with the second dough triangle and press lightly around the edges to seal.
- Make the branches: Using a sharp knife, cut horizontal slits about 1 ½ inches apart on both sides of the triangle, leaving a strip down the center for the “trunk.” Twist each strip a few times to create branches.

- Add the buttery goodness: Melt the butter in a small bowl, then stir in garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush it all over the dough for that golden, flavorful finish.
- Bake and serve: Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and baked through. Sprinkle with Parmesan and fresh basil before serving — then stand back and admire your masterpiece before it disappears!

Storage & Prep Tips
This one is definitely best enjoyed fresh from the oven, as that’s when the crust is crisp, the cheese is melty, and the whole thing disappears in minutes.
If you do have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes to bring back some of that fresh-baked magic (the microwave works in a pinch, but you’ll lose the crispiness).
Since it’s so quick to make, it’s one of those recipes that’s best prepped and baked on the same day.

Variations
Once you’ve made the classic version, it’s easy to mix things up and make your Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Pizza your own.
-
Decorate it! Add sliced olives, mini pepperoni, or diced bell peppers as “ornaments”. You can even sprinkle fresh basil or parsley for a pop of green “tinsel”.
-
Go veggie: Swap the pepperoni for mushrooms, spinach, or roasted red peppers — perfect for vegetarian guests.
-
Cheesy overload: Mix mozzarella with provolone, cheddar, or fontina for extra gooey, melty goodness.
-
Pesto version: Spread pesto instead of pizza sauce for a green, garlicky twist that looks super festive.
-
Meat lovers: Add cooked sausage or crumbled bacon between the layers for an extra hearty version.
-
Sweet spin: Want to turn it into dessert? Skip the sauce and toppings, and use Nutella, cinnamon sugar, or cream cheese and jam instead.
Every version bakes up golden, cheesy, and perfect for pulling apart at the party table.
Serving Ideas
This Christmas tree pull-apart pizza is made for sharing — it’s the kind of party centerpiece everyone gathers around. Just set it out warm, and let guests grab a “branch” while it’s still gooey and melty.
-
Add dipping sauces: Serve it with little bowls of marinara, ranch, garlic butter, or even spicy sriracha mayo for dipping.
-
Make it part of a spread: Pair it with a veggie platter, charcuterie board, or festive salad for a full party table.
-
Dress it up: Sprinkle a little Parmesan “snow” over the top or add a star-shaped piece of cheese or dough at the top of the tree before baking for extra holiday flair.
-
For the kids: Cut the twists into smaller pieces and serve with pizza sauce for dipping — guaranteed to be a hit.

Tips for Making With Kids
Since becoming a mom, I’m always thinking about how little ones can get involved in the kitchen, especially with fun, hands-on recipes like this one. It’s the perfect mix of creative and messy (in the best way).
-
Little helpers (ages 2–4): Let them sprinkle the cheese or help “decorate” the tree with pepperoni and olives. They’ll love being in charge of adding the toppings!
-
Bigger kids (ages 5–7): Have them help twist the “branches” or brush on the butter and seasoning mixture. It’s an easy step that feels special.
-
Older kids (8+): Let them go wild with the decorations — turning the pizza tree into their own edible masterpiece with toppings, “ornaments” and even a cheese star on top.
It’s a fun way to spend time together, and by the time it’s baked, everyone feels proud to tear off a piece and say, “I made that”!
