Creamy & High Protein Cottage Cheese Dip
This creamy, high protein dip recipe comes together in just 5 minutes, and the secret ingredient is one of my all-time favorites – cottage cheese! It’s silky smooth, bursting with creamy herb and garlic flavors, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a healthy snack or even a light appetizer for a party.
I’m very aware that cottage cheese can definitely divide opinion, but if you’re a bit skeptical, I urge you to give it a try – I use it as the base for so many different recipes, and I promise that with a little creativity, love, and the right ingredients, it can be absolutely delicious!
The whole bowl of this cottage cheese dip contains approximately 358 calories and 28g of protein, making it a fantastic option when you want to keep things a little lighter. Let’s make it together…
Ingredients
- Cottage cheese: I like to use full-fat for extra creaminess, but you can use fat-free or reduced fat if you prefer.
- Greek yogurt: My preferred brand is Fage and I buy 5% – again for extra creaminess! – but any variety will work fine. Of course you need plain, not flavored.
- Chives
- Fresh or dried dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Garlic (optional): Omit this if you don’t love raw garlic, but I love the sharpness and extra flavor that it adds.
- Assorted fresh vegetables for dipping: Such as carrot sticks, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, etc.

Tips for Making the Best Creamy Cottage Cheese Dip
Want to make your cottage cheese dip extra smooth, flavorful, and delicious? Here are some tips for creating the best results every time…
1. Blend Until Completely Smooth
For the creamiest texture, use a high-powered blender or food processor and blend until there are no lumps. If your dip still has a slightly grainy texture, blend a little longer for a super silky finish.
2. Use Full-Fat Cottage Cheese for Richness
Full-fat cottage cheese gives the dip a creamier and richer consistency. As I mentioned, if you prefer a lighter version, low-fat cottage cheese works too, but it won’t be as thick.
3. Adjust the Seasoning to Taste
The dip’s flavor improves as it chills, but be sure to taste and adjust the salt, pepper, and herbs before serving. You can even add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness!
4. Customize with Extra Flavors
Make the dip your own by adding:
- A pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne for a little heat.
- A drizzle of olive oil for extra richness.
- Grated parmesan for a cheesy boost.
5. Let It Chill for the Best Flavor
Chilling the dip allows the flavors to meld together, making it even more delicious.
6. Serve with a Variety of Dippers
Pair your creamy cottage cheese dip with crunchy vegetables, low-carb crackers, or toasted pita chips for the perfect snack or appetizer.
