Recipe Notes

Boneless, skinless chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breasts if you prefer a slightly richer, juicier result.

This recipe is meant to be a neutral, versatile base, so you don’t need to add any sauce during cooking. You can easily mix in BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, or any seasoning you like after it’s done! The beauty of this one is that there’s so many ways to shake things up and keep it exciting, even if you’re making it on a regular basis (which I hope you will, as it’s a wonderful staple!).

For the best texture, avoid overcooking the chicken. It should be tender and easy to shred but not dry.

Shredding the chicken directly in the slow cooker helps it soak up all the cooking juices, keeping it moist and flavorful.

If you prefer a slightly thicker texture, you can remove some of the liquid before stirring the chicken back in.

This recipe is great for meal prep since the chicken stays moist and reheats well throughout the week.

You can easily double the recipe if your slow cooker is large enough, making it even more convenient for feeding a crowd or prepping multiple meals at once!
