Syn Free Piri Piri Chicken Skewers | Slimming World
Fancy a cheeky Nando’s, but know that you should really stay in and stick to your Slimming World plan?
These Syn free piri piri chicken skewers offer the best of both worlds, and prove that you really don’t need to miss out when it comes to big, punchy flavours and the kind of cuisine that’ll set your tastebuds alight.
Though they’re good enough to create an occasion in their own right, they’re also great if you want to use up those vegetables that are hanging around in your salad crisper.
I tend to use cherry tomatoes, peppers, and red onion, but mushrooms, courgettes, and even pineapple will all work equally as well.
I dare you to try these and not agree that they’re a hundred times better than any kebab that you’ve indulged in on the way home from the pub.
Let’s take a look at how to make them…

Using Spicentice for your Syn free piri piri chicken skewers
We’ve all got those items that become staples in our kitchen cupboards, and Spicentice are definitely amongst mine.
If you’re not familiar, they’re a range of seasonings and spice blends that can be used to make all your favourite dishes way easier to make.
They’re a blessing on the nights when you don’t have a ton of time, and unlike loads of the products that you’ll find on the supermarket shelves these days, they’re pretty much positively saintly.
Tons of taste and flavour, without the need for buying loads of new stuff every time you fancy trying a new recipe.
So in this instance, I use and highly recommend the Spicentice piri piri seasoning mix.

Wondering how hot it is?
This was one of my initial concerns too.
I laugh in the face of lemon and herb, and I’ve got no time for half measures when it comes to the level of spice. Still though, I appreciate that doesn’t float everyone’s boat, especially if you’re cooking for kids.
The heat question is really subjective, so it’s hard to give you a definitive answer. But I’ll say that there’s a decent kick there, though it’s certainly not going to blow your face off.
If you’re a real spice freak, you might want to add a few extra chilli flakes to the seasoning. But if you’re go medium at Nando’s, you’re sorted, and you’ll probably find that it’s just right.

What should you serve with your Syn free piri piri chicken skewers?
Your skewers team up great with some chips or wedges, and a big, fresh salad.
If you fancy something different though, there’s ton of options.
You could whip up a spicy rice and a Syn friendly slaw, pop some pittas in the toaster, or make your own on-plan garlic breads.
Try a dollop of natural yoghurt on your plate too if you want to cool things down a little bit or add a little moisture to your meal…
That said though, I recommend cooking these in the oven, which I tend to find keeps them far juicier than if they’re grilled!
