1. French fries

Everyone loves a portion of French fries, so they’re the perfect accompaniment for chicken wraps if you’re serving a crowd including kids and fussy eaters!

You can make your own, of course, but I like to save some time by picking up a bag of frozen fries at the supermarket.

Cooked in an air fryer for around 10-15 minutes, they’re crispy, crunchy, and totally delicious!

2. Potato wedges

It’s super easy to make your own potato wedges, and they make a fantastic side dish for wraps.

Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Choose medium to large-sized potatoes, and cut each potato in half lengthwise, then slice each half into wedges, aiming for even thickness to ensure uniform cooking.

Soak the wedges in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve crispiness.

Drain and pat the wedges dry with a towel.

Toss them in a bowl with olive oil, salt, and any additional seasonings you like, such as garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, or rosemary.

Arrange the wedges on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they are spaced out and not touching each other for proper crisping.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-35 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through to ensure even browning on both sides.

Serve the potato wedges hot from the oven!

3. Roast potatoes

When it comes to a comforting and satisfying side, you really can’t beat a serving of perfectly crispy, crunchy, fluffy roast potatoes!

Add them as a side to your wraps, and you’ve got a meal that’s substantial enough to serve for dinner.

I particularly like serving wraps with roasties when I have guests round for an informal, casual meal, and I’ll typically just add a salad to the table and invite everyone to tuck in.

This easy roasties recipe is no-fuss, and you don’t even have to peel your potatoes!

4. Italian pasta salad

Made with two types of cheese, tender pasta shapes, smoked salami, and fresh veggies, this Italian pasta salad is perfect for prepping in advance and serving as a cold side dish.

It’s fresh, vibrant, and colourful, and it’s particularly good during the warm summer months and picnic season.

5. Pesto pasta salad

Pesto pasta salad is a grown up, classy side dish that’s really easy to prepare.

Begin by cooking your choice of pasta—such as rotini, fusilli, or farfalle—according to the package instructions until it’s al dente.

Drain the pasta and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process and cool it down; this ensures the pasta doesn’t overcook and become mushy in the salad.

While the pasta cooks, prepare the pesto sauce.

You can make your own pesto by blending fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and olive oil in a food processor until smooth, or you can use a good quality store-bought pesto.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled pasta with a generous amount of pesto sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly.

To add texture and extra flavour to your salad, mix in additional ingredients such as halved cherry tomatoes, diced mozzarella cheese, sliced black olives, toasted pine nuts, or arugula.

Once all the ingredients are combined, season the salad with salt and pepper to taste.

6. Cowboy rice salad

Take your lunch for a trip to the wild west by serving up this cowboy rice salad as a side!

It’s made with nutty, nutritious brown rice, and it’s full of juicy veggies and vibrant flavours, and it’s finished off with a beautiful lime dressing.

7. Quinoa salad

If you’re bored of your usual pasta and rice based sides, why not try making a quinoa salad instead?

Best of all, you really don’t need to follow a recipe.

You can just get a little creative with ingredients you already have in your fridge and pantry!

In a large bowl, combine cooked, cooled quinoa with a variety of chopped vegetables for crunch and colour.

Popular choices include cucumber, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and avocado.

For added flavour and texture, mix in ingredients like black beans, corn, feta cheese, or toasted nuts. Fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro, or mint will bring brightness to the dish.

8. Potato salad

When it comes to what to serve with chicken wraps, potato salad is always a real crowd pleaser!

You can also prep it in advance, making it a good choice for a fuss free way to entertain friends.

This lemon potato salad is my favourite recipe, and be sure to follow the advice to marinade the potatoes in the dressing whilst they’re still hot.

This makes a huge difference to the overall taste, and just takes your potato salad to that next level of deliciousness!

9. Greek salad

For summer holiday vibes, serve your wraps with a Greek salad.

It’s the kind of meal that you might enjoy for lunch whilst sitting in a cool cafe overlooking the beach, sipping on a cold beer and watching the world go by!

Begin by chopping ripe tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and red onions into bite-sized pieces.

Slice a green bell pepper into rings or strips, and add to the mix.

Kalamata olives are a staple in Greek salad, so toss in a generous handful.

Cube or crumble a block of feta cheese and gently fold it into the salad.

For the dressing, whisk together extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, a touch of lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, and salt and pepper to taste.

Drizzle the dressing over the salad and give it a light toss to coat the ingredients.

Some prefer to simply top the salad with the feta and a sprinkle of oregano, allowing the flavors to shine through with minimal dressing.

The salad can be served immediately or chilled briefly in the refrigerator.

10. Bean salad

This simple bean salad is made with store cupboard ingredients, and you can use any beans that you prefer.

Adding fresh herbs makes all the difference to the overall taste and brightness of the salad, and my personal favourites are parsley and mint!

11. Onion rings

For a warm side dish for chicken wraps, consider serving up onion rings.

You can buy your own or cheat a little by picking up a bag of frozen onion rings from the supermarket, and they tend to be very popular with kids and adults alike.

12. Your favourite soup

Soup and a sandwich is such a classic lunchtime pairing, so why not serve your chicken wraps with a hot bowl of your favourite soup?

This option is wonderfully versatile, and you can make it as simple or as advanced as you like.

Make your own soup from scratch with all your favourite fresh veggies, or just open a can from your pantry!

13. Broccoli slaw

Broccoli slaw is a fantastically fresh, vibrant, and colourful side for chicken wraps.

Start by gathering the main ingredients: fresh broccoli stems, carrots, and red cabbage.

Shred these vegetables into fine pieces using a food processor, box grater, or a sharp knife to create the slaw base.

For convenience, you can also buy prepackaged broccoli slaw mix from the grocery store.

In a large bowl, mix the shredded vegetables together.

To add sweetness and additional texture, consider tossing in some raisins, dried cranberries, or sliced almonds.

For the dressing, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, a touch of sugar (or honey for a natural sweetener), salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.

Whisk until smooth and well-blended.

Pour the dressing over the slaw mixture and toss to coat evenly.

For best results, let the broccoli slaw sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

14. Corn on the cob

If you’re always trying to encourage your family to eat more veggies, then corn on the cob makes for a fun side dish for wraps.

Begin by husking the corn, removing the silk and outer leaves.

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil and add a pinch of salt.

Carefully place the corn cobs in the boiling water and let them cook for about 7 to 10 minutes, depending on their size and how tender you like your corn.

Enjoy with plenty of salted butter!

15. Chips and dips

For a super quick and easy side dish, serve up your favourite chips with a selection of dips.

They can be homemade if you have the time, but you can always pick up a selection from the supermarket if you’re in a rush.

Some good choices include salsa, guacamole, queso, ranch dip, and hummus.

16. Fresh lemonade

Don’t forget to think about drinks when considering what to serve with chicken wraps!

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a glass of fresh lemonade, and it makes for a beautiful summery pairing for chicken wrap sandwiches.

17. Fruit salad

A fruit salad is a great choice for what to serve with chicken wraps if you want to offer up something sweet but nutritious.

Start by selecting a range of fresh fruits for a balance of flavours and colors.

Common choices include strawberries, blueberries, grapes, kiwi, pineapple, mango, and melon.

Wash all the fruit thoroughly, peel and remove any seeds or stems as necessary, and cut the fruit into bite-sized pieces.

In a large bowl, gently combine all the chopped fruits.

To enhance the natural sweetness and add a zesty note, you can drizzle a dressing made from honey, a squeeze of fresh citrus juice (like lime, lemon, or orange), and a sprinkle of fresh mint or basil over the fruit.

Toss the salad gently to coat the fruit with the dressing, being careful not to bruise or mash the pieces.

Chill the fruit salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

This allows the flavours to meld together and the fruit to become infused with the dressing.

Serve the fruit salad in a large serving bowl or in individual cups, garnished with additional herbs or a dollop of whipped cream or yogurt for an extra touch of indulgence.

18. Baked apple slices

Baked apple slices are a deliciously light way to round off a lunch of chicken wraps.

Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Choose firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji for the best texture after baking.

Wash, peel, and core the apples, then cut them into even slices, about 1/4 inch thick.

In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar to coat them evenly.

For added flavour, you can also include a dash of nutmeg or allspice.

If you prefer a caramelised touch, drizzle a little bit of maple syrup or honey over the slices.

Arrange the seasoned apple slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they don’t overlap.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the edges start to turn golden brown.

Halfway through the baking process, you can flip the slices to ensure even cooking.

19. Homemade chocolate chip cookies

With golden brown edges, and satisfyingly oozy, gooey middles, you can’t beat a good homemade chocolate chip cookie

No special ingredients or skills are required, so whether you’re a professional baker or a complete newbie in the kitchen, you can impress your friends and family with some of your very own homemade cookies.
