What To Serve With Quiche: 8 Delicious Sides

Quiche is a traditional French tart that’s usually made with a shortcrust base, and a creamy combination of ham, cheese, milk, and egg.

If you’re reading this though, you’ll likely already know that, and just how delicious it can be!

What you probably really want to know at this stage is what to serve with quiche.

Whether it’s for a snack, a lunch, or your evening meal, there are plenty of side dishes and accompaniments you can choose from.

Here are 8 delectables sides for you to add to you menu next time you’re baking a quiche…

1. Tomato soup

Though quiche is a relatively simple recipe, it can be quite rich and filling.

That means that it’s best served with a lighter soup option such as tomato.

The cheesy quiche is perfectly complemented by the tomato flavour, and it’s a tasty choice for lunch or a lighter evening meal.

It’s also a good option if you’re cooking for friends, as heating up soup won’t take too much of your time, and you can focus on socialising instead of slaving over a hot stove.

2. Jacket potato

A fluffy jacket potato is a fantastic side dish for quiche, and it can make it a filling and hearty meal, particularly on cold winter evenings when you really need a bit of comfort.

I like to cook mine in a microwave first, then spritz with cooking oil, season, and bake in the oven until the skin is golden brown and crispy.

3. Leafy green side salad

You could argue that quiche is perfect on its own, and it really doesn’t require any side dishes.

Still though, you might want to add a little bit of extra colour and texture to your plate.

In this case, a simple salad definitely does the job.

4. Fruit salad

For a balanced meal with plenty of the feel good factor, serve your quiche with a side of fresh fruit salad.

If you plan to make your fruit mix in advance, you can prevent produce like chopped apples, pears, and bananas from turning brown by coating them with a little lemon or orange juice.

The acidity will help to keep your fruits fresh, and ensure that they’re still at the their best when the time comes to eat them.

5. Fries

Fries can transform a slice of quiche into a delightful lunch that will make you feel like you’re dining in a sunny, rustic square somewhere in rural France!

Shoestring fries with salt and vinegar work best here, though you could make some homemade chunky chips instead.

6. Buttery new potatoes

New potatoes are a great choice for what to serve with quiche.

Jersey Royals are widely regarded as the best choice here, and they’re usually readily available from April and right through the summer months.

You don’t need to peel new potatoes.

Just gently scrub away any dirt, and boil whole for around ten minutes or until tender.

Dress your potatoes with some butter as soon as they’re cooked and whilst they’re still piping hot.

This will help them to absorb that lovely buttery flavour.

Chop up your favourite herbs, like chives, parsley, or coriander, to serve.

7. Roasted vegetables

A tray of your favourite roasted veggies make a delectable side dish for quiche, and is a wonderful choice for either lunch or dinner.

You can use any vegetables that you might have available, though particularly strong contenders include carrots, beetroot, broccoli, mushrooms, and courgettes.

Roast with lemon, garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil.

This simple recipe from Damn Delicious is one of my favourites.

8. Cold cuts of meat

When it comes to what to serve with quiche, a platter of cold meats is a quick and simple option that will satisfy your friends and family.

Lay out cuts like sliced chicken, beef, pork, chorizo, and salami.

If you want to go all out and create a ploughman’s platter, you can also add boiled eggs, salad, crudités, and pickles. Your quiche will be the star of the show, but these side dishes will turn it into an impressive spread that’s suitable for parties and special get togethers.

Slice up your quiche in advance, and let everyone help themselves so they can have as much or as little as they want.

Finally, however you decide to serve your quiche, make sure that you also have a range of condiments or chutneys available.

Mayonnaise is a lovely simple option, and a roasted tomato chutney will really help to bring out those creamy, cheesy flavours.
