Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs

How cute are these Halloween hot dogs?! I’ve been making these for years now whenever I host a spooky party or gathering, and they always get so many comments and are the first things to fly off the table. They look very Instagram-worthy, but they’re actually pretty simple and straightforward to make! We’re taking spicy hot links or hot dogs (just whatever you personally prefer), wrapping them up store-bought crescent dough pastry, and baking them in the oven before decorating with candy eyes.

These are also a super fun option for serving up before or after trick or treating. Once you’ve tried them, I think you’ll be making them every year!

Ingredients

Please note that if you prefer a printable recipe card, you’ll find one at the bottom of this post!

  • Hot links (or hot dogs) – Use whichever you like best! Hot links give a spicier kick, but classic hot dogs work just as well (and are kid-friendly).

  • Crescent dough sheet – The sheet-style dough makes wrapping easy. If you can only find the perforated kind, just pinch the seams together before cutting into strips.

  • Edible candy eyes – These bring the spooky factor! You can usually find them in the baking aisle around Halloween.

  • Ketchup – Works double duty as “glue” for the eyes and a dipping sauce for serving. Mustard or mayo can also help stick the eyes if you prefer.

How To Make Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs

  • Preheat your oven to 360°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Roll out the crescent dough sheet on a clean surface, then use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice it into thin ½-inch strips.

  • Wrap 1–2 strips around each hot dog, leaving a little gap for the “face” where the eyes will go. Place your mummies on the prepared baking sheet and keep wrapping until they’re all dressed up.

  • Bake for 15–17 minutes, until the dough is puffed, golden, and your mummies look perfectly wrapped.

  • Add a tiny dab of ketchup in the face opening, then press on the candy eyes while it’s still tacky so they stick. Spooky and super cute!

Substitutions & Variations

  • Hot dogs or sausages – Swap in any kind you like if hot links aren’t your thing.

  • Puff pastry – Works just as well as crescent dough and gives you a slightly flakier “bandage” wrap.

  • Eye glue options – Mustard, mayo, or really any sticky condiment can hold those candy eyes in place if you’re not using ketchup.

  • Mini mummies – Use little smokies with smaller candy eyeballs for bite-sized versions that are perfect for Halloween parties.

Serving Ideas

These mummy hot dogs are the ultimate Halloween snack, whether you’re fueling up little goblins before trick-or-treating or serving something fun after the candy haul. They’re also a total crowd-pleaser for Halloween parties — easy to grab, festive on a platter, and just spooky enough to make everyone smile. Pair them with a few dipping sauces and you’ve got a snack spread that’s as fun as it is tasty.
