If you love a good old Chinese fakeaway night, then having a decent Slimming World crispy kale in your personal recipe repertoire is always a wise idea.
This one has just a handful of ingredients, takes less than ten minutes to prepare and cook, and gives you a decent serving of speed food without leaving you feeling like you’ve just munched on a load of lettuce leaves.
For the full ingredients list and detailed instructions, see the recipe card at the end of this post. Make sure you check out this important information first though…
Legend has it that when you order crispy seaweed from a Chinese takeaway, you’re almost definitely actually being served kale. It’s not seaweed at all, it’s just a fried version of the popular superfood. The frying, of course, is partly what makes it so delicious.
Frying isn’t so slimming friendly, but I promise you that you’ll hardly notice the difference when you bake it in the oven, as we’re going to do with this recipe. As we’re going to add a little salt and sweetener, the flavour will be perfectly balanced and reminiscent of a real treat.
One important tip to remember…
Make sure that you keep a close eye on your kale whilst it’s baking! It’ll usually take around just 5 minutes for it to become perfectly crispy, but it the blink of an eye, it can burn. Be ready to whip it out the oven as soon as it looks good to go.
This Slimming World crispy kale is the perfect side dish for a Chinese fakeaway.
It’s particularly good alongside my chicken satay recipe, with some veggie egg fried rice, and fresh chilli and lime slices.
Yep, that’s right!
It’s Syn free, and there’s just 49 calories per serving.
